Shipments of smartphones are
expected to reach almost 1.8 billion by 2018 and this means that almost 32
percent of the people will be having smartphone. This has contributed to the industry
becoming a multibillion dollar with revenue projected to reach 429 billion US
dollars in 2016. The accomplishment of this industry can be credited to the
development and prevalence of two operating systems such as Android and iOS.
Before 2016, these two operating systems held more than 95 percent, with
Android alone controlling more than 80 percent. This added up to 352.67 million
Android units and 77.04 million iOS units being transported in the last quarter
of 2016.
